Pickup Time: 09:00 AM from your Amritsar Hotel. Your day begins with the iconic sights and soulful heritage of Amritsar. This guided city tour takes you through sacred landmarks, emotional historical spots, and cultural marvels that define the heart of Punjab.
Our first stop is the world-renowned Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib. Surrounded by the shimmering Amrit Sarovar, this serene Gurudwara is not only a spiritual hub but also a symbol of equality and humility. During the visit, your guide will walk you through its incredible history, architecture, and untold stories that make this Sikh shrine a living legend. Photography, prayers, or just silence – every moment here is magical.
Just a short walk from the Golden Temple is the solemn Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden that witnessed one of the most tragic massacres in Indian history. Stand at the preserved bullet marks on the walls, visit the Martyrs’ Well, and pay tribute to hundreds of innocent lives lost on April 13, 1919. This site is not just history—it’s a reminder of India’s path to freedom.
Next, proceed to the beautiful Durgiana Temple, also known as the Laxmi Narayan Temple. Its serene pond and golden dome draw comparisons to the Golden Temple itself. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, it holds great significance for Hindu devotees. The peaceful vibe, detailed carvings, and temple bells create a divine atmosphere for every visitor.
We then head to Ram Bagh Palace, now transformed into the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama Museum. Explore the life and legacy of the Lion of Punjab through historic weapons, royal costumes, miniature paintings, and artifacts from his reign. This museum paints a vivid picture of Punjab’s golden era and its fearless warriors.
After exploring the city’s historic and spiritual side, enjoy a hearty Punjabi lunch at a local restaurant. Relish dishes like Amritsari kulcha, dal makhani, paneer tikka, and more that reflect the true flavors of Punjab.
Later in the afternoon, drive towards the Wagah Border, located on the India–Pakistan frontier. This is where patriotism reaches its peak during the iconic Retreat Ceremony. Witness the synchronized and electrifying Beating Retreat where soldiers from both sides perform an energetic parade, followed by flag-lowering and salutes. Feel the national spirit as chants of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" fill the air.
After returning from Wagah, your day concludes with a divine experience at the Golden Temple again. Witness the sacred “Palki Sahib” ceremony between 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This spiritual ritual involves the Guru Granth Sahib being ceremoniously carried to the Akal Takht for its night rest. The chants, lights, and aura at this time are absolutely soul-stirring.
Meeting Point: Golden Temple Gate at 7:00 PM
Duration: Approx. 3 hours for night ceremony
As the tour ends, you’ll walk away with not just photos, but moments that blend history, faith, and Punjabi pride. From the gleaming sanctum of the Golden Temple to the emotional silence of Jallianwala Bagh and the roaring energy at Wagah, this is more than just sightseeing—it’s an experience of Amritsar’s beating heart.
